Torcetti, or Torchietti, as they were called in the eighteenth century, are typical biscuits with a peculiar, twisted shape after which they were named (torcetti means “twist” in Italian). They were invented in the valleys of Lanzo, where bakers, while waiting for the oven to be hot enough to bake bread, cooked small pieces of bread dough covered in sugar or honey.
Through the years the recipe has changed, it has been enriched with butter and it is now more delicious than ever. Torcetti, thanks to a slow leavening process, have a crisp texture and a unique fragrance.
Torcetti is a Traditional Piedmontese Agrofood product.
