"Maggiorina", a light red wine, is produced from grapes grown in old "Maggiorina" vineyards (25 different small fields). These fields are planted with a mix of 12 different grape varieties (mainly Nebbiolo and Croatina but also some white and aromatic grapes) to give a real eccentric blend.

For hundreds of years, the "Maggiorina" cultivation system was the only system used in Boca. Alessandro Antonelli, the architect who built the Mole Antonelliana in Turin and the huge Sanctuary of Boca, originally from the area, improved the system to be more resistant to wind and weather.

This red blend uses all grapes at the winemaker's disposal and it is released after one year of refinement in steel tanks. It is best enjoyed young, within the first 2 years of harvest

La Maggiorina is an intense wine, rich in fruity nuances ranging from ripe cherry to raspberry juice, with a spicy character marked by flashes of black pepper, and a final aftertaste between balsamic and green pepper. The sensation on the palate is smooth but this does not compromise its medium body and good flavour.

This lighter red wine is excellent with cold cuts, lighter cheese, bean-based dishes, or pasta, it also can go well with cooked seafood starters especially with cod.
