A grape variety that doesn't get more Piedmontese than that. As traditional as bagna cauda or truffles, Barbera is the most widespread and cultivated red berry.
The vine is rustic, artisanal and one of the most representative in the history of Piedmontese wine: the true symbol of our tradition.
In recent years it has been able to make itself appreciated throughout Italy and the world, becoming the protagonist of a real exploit with the increase in culture and the perception of the quality and value of the resulting wine.
It is said that the wine was called 'Barbera' because of the well-known acidic and astringent red cherry juice 'vinum Berberis'. Moreover, in the Middle Ages, the name Bàrberus had the meaning of "impetuous and aggressive", as Barberis was. Today it is the tannin that, untamed, overwhelmingly satisfies the palate of the taster.
The production area of Barbera d'Alba DOC includes 54 municipalities in the province of Cuneo, to the right and left of the Tanaro river.
Lagobava produces a high quality Barbera BIO, with controlled fermentation without the addition of selected yeasts, vinified in steel and left to rest for 6 months in the bottle. The colour is ruby red while the nose is fresh, fruity, very typical. On the palate it is fresh, fragrant with good softness and good persistence.
It goes well with appetizers, light first courses or simply drunk at the family table.
