Description
Fat-free breadsticks made with “00” flour and 32% of water, Piedmontese water breadsticks are an ancient Piedmontese recipe.
As well as boasting a very long history, which began in the court kitchen of Victor Amadeus II of Savoy, its irresistible crumbliness has carved out a prominent role in Piedmontese tradition right across the Alps.
It soon became the guest of noble and modest tables: Napoleon Bonaparte organised periodic trips from Turin to Paris, Marie Louise of Austria loved them dipped in broth and King Charles Felix even ate them during theatre performances. All you have to do is munch on a piece to feel immediately part of the Royal Family.
Not only crumbly and regal, but also distinctly versatile: excellent with cold meats, cheeses and chocolate.
