Fara DOC "Vigna di Sopra" is a red wine blend. The vines of this wine grow in Valle Roncati, a valley in the Novara hills at the foot of Monte Rosa. The glacial soil is rich in clay, sand and hundreds of different minerals. Fara DOC is one of the most prestigious appellations in Piedmont. The name comes from one of the two villages where the wine is produced: Fara and Briona. There, this wine was already popular in the Middle Ages among the nobility and the high clergy. Today, this area is regarded as the Burgundy of Italy.
It is a harmonious mix of 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina, and 10% Uva Rara: the last two give the wine a spicy and peppery note.

Vigna di sopra wine is produced according to the traditional red wine-making process, in which the must (pulp) ferments with the grape skins and carefully selected yeasts. The wine ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel containers, then matures for a long time in French oak barrels, which gives the wine delicate and deep aromas. Finally, it is bottled and stored in climate-controlled rooms.

This red wine has a deep ruby and garnet colour, and a rich bouquet with notes of liquorice, red fruits, and hints of spices. The saline, dry taste, and velvety tannins give this wine an easy-drinking palate and a lingering, elegant finish.

It pairs exquisitely with red meat, game, and spicy cheeses.
