The vines grow in Piedmont, in the Roncati Valley, a valley in the Novara hills at the foot of Monte Rosa. The acidic glacial soil is rich in clay, sand and hundreds of different minerals.
Fara is one of the most prestigious appellations in Piedmont. The name comes from one of the two villages where the wine is produced: Fara and Briona. There, this wine was already popular in the Middle Ages among the nobility and the high clergy.
It is produced from 70% Nebbiolo vines (which give structure and body to the wine), 20% Vespolina and 10% Uva Rara which give a spicy flavour.

The wine "Ciada riserva" is made according to the traditional process of red wine making, where the must (pulp) ferments together with the grape skins and carefully selected yeasts. This wine is aged 34 months in French oak barrels of various sizes.

This red wine has a colour between deep ruby and garnet, and a rich bouquet with notes of liquorice, red fruits, and hints of spices. The saline, dry taste and velvety tannins give this wine an easy drinking palate and an elegant, lingering finish.

It pairs exquisitely with red meat, game, stewed and ragù meats to spicy cheeses.
