Valle Roncati produces this Colline Novaresi DOC Bianco "Particella 40" from the Erbaluce grape variety. This is a fantastic white wine for its finesse of aromas, balanced flavour, and aging potential. Mentioned as early as 1600 in the treatise of Giovanni Battista Croce (trusted jeweler to Duke Carlo Emanuele I), it was the first white wine DOC to be established in Piedmont in 1967.
Its name derives from the fact that the berries take on an amber hue when the sun rises; in fact, its name was initially Alba Lux, or Light of Dawn.
Particella 40 wine is made using the traditional white wine-making process where the skins are immediately removed from the juice. The juice then begins to ferment in temperature-controlled containers and matures in stainless steel barrels until it is clear and has developed its aromas through contact with its own yeast. In the spring following the harvest, this wine is finally bottled and stored in climate-controlled rooms.
It has a straw yellow colour with delicate greenish hues. The bouquet is rich in fruit and flower flavours and the palate is dry but delicate. A hint of refreshing acidity completes the finish.
Try Particella 40 as an aperitivo with light hors d'oeuvres or with a seafood dish, it also pairs great with Thai or Vietnamese cuisine. It is especially appreciated for its freshness.
