Elia Rossi produces this kind of honey in the mountains around the Lake Maggiore.
Chestnut honey has a liquid consistency. Amber in colour, with shades of red. The odour is very intense, lightly pungent.
Not particularly sweet, it leaves a definite bitter aftertaste. The scent is intense and can leave a tannic impression on the palate with an astringent sensation.
Foodpairing: It combines well with fresh cheese such as Tartufotta, Fior di Tiglio or Erborinato or with some cold cuts such as lard. Also, it can be eaten with some bread for breakfast or mixed with hot milk.
