Panificio Patti still prepares the Canestrelli Canavesi following the traditional recipe that involves the use of the typical iron mould to decorate the wafers in the shape of a coat of arms.
Canestrelli Canavesi wafers are thin and crumbly with a cocoa and vanilla flavour. In moments of utmost indecision, you just have to taste them both to solve any existential doubt!

The recipe dates back to the Middle Ages when the iron plates even bore the family coat of arms and were prepared during local festivals. While its name derives from "Canestri", the woven wicker containers in which wafers were once stored.

These wafer biscuits are perfect to serve at the end of a meal with a cup of coffee. But if paired with a good glass of Amaro or Passito, you can feel the bitterness of the cocoa and the delicacy of the vanilla with greater intensity.
