Ready for a truly unique Piedmontese white wine? Pour a glass of Preja, a Baratuciat varietal wine.
Enrico Druetto’s mission is to save ancient grape varieties from extinction, and he successfully did it with Baratuciat grapes. He gathered some gems from a vine that was growing out of a nearby rock and managed to create an entirely new Baratuciat vineyard. The unique wine obtained from it is called “Preja” which, in fact, is the Piedmontese dialect for “rock”.
The Baratuciat grape is unique to Piedmont, growing only in very few provinces surrounding the capital of Turin. This is a one-of-a-kind variety not to be missed!
Excellent Baratuciat grapes, harvested in three different moments to ensure the right ripeness were used to make Preja in 2018. Preja is a fresh and acidic refined white wine that can be aged in the bottle for a long time, becoming even more valuable.
On the nose, it has flowery notes (linden, vervain, chamomile), but also extra layers of tobacco, and spicy aromas. On the palate it is fresh, thanks to its acidity, and with an extra crisp mineral finish.
