Piedmont is famous in Italy and abroad for the long high-quality tradition in cheese production, thanks to its wide valleys and grazing land. Classic local cheeses are the Antigorio, a cow’s milk cheese with a tasty yet mild flavour, or the celebrated Bettelmatt, with a restricted production in only 7 alps in the Antigorio and Formazza valleys, or the Maccagno, born in the mountains in the Biella province. In the Southern part of the region, we find all the most famous Piedmontese cheese such as the Bra or the Castelmagno. Finally, let's not forget one of the best: Gorgonzola, which is made in the Novara area and in the surrounding hills.
